Picking up after JIGSAW (2010,) book one in this series, in 2017’s new JIGSAW PART II, Capt. Cape Thomas has suffered a gunshot wound to the head, rendering him semi-comatose for over three years. On the eve of his discharge from the hospital after two more years of physical therapy, a night nurse--either a figment of his imagination or his worst living nightmare--attacks him out of nowhere. Convinced in daylight by staff and his doctor that the attack was a trick of a healing mind, Cape bids farewell to the facility, his home for the past five years.
Once home with family in the Fisher mansion, strange things continue to beset him. Nooses and miniature coffins turn up in odd places and Cape begins to suspect that his old nemeses, Walter Cronus Kress and William Johnston, are responsible. These new terrors are real, but the cause for this unwanted, and ostensibly unwarranted, attention is still murky.
Cape, determined to keep his family safe, moves from the mansion back to his own home. On the way there, he is hunted by an archer and almost killed. Managing to escape, he reports the crime to the local sheriff, a smart, charming woman whose looks could stop an eight-day clock. Sheriff Scarlett DuBois investigates Cape’s claim of being targeted, but she soon dismisses the incident as a hunting accident blown out of proportion by a man with lingering brain damage.
Cape returns to his home place only to find it’s no safe haven, either. Nooses and other strange appearances send him out on the road again, this time to Charlotte, to warn his former lover, Ally Kress, that her imprisoned ex-husband, Walter Cronus Kress, is up to his old tricks—this time planning both their murders. Instead of a warm welcome from Ally, though, Cape receives the news that she is very recently dead—but that just before, she too received nooses and miniature coffins out of nowhere to terrorize her and her household. Before Cape can warn Ally’s daughter, the film star Céline Seabolt, that she is in danger, the younger beauty also is murdered this time Cape Thomas is the prime suspect.
Danger is clearly around every corner of each city and town, it’s down in the thick riparian woods, and just off every interstate in North Carolina, so Cape turns to alcohol for solace. A bar fight leads him to the drunk tank and then to a vicious fight in the county lockup. Yes, Cape Thomas, former 747 airline pilot for Aeromax out of Atlanta, should’ve heeded good family advice and remained under the keep of highly-trained security-in-residence at the Fisher mansion.
But no, he would not. And now when Detective Darius Martin has no choice but to release Cape Thomas from the clink, lacking sufficient evidence to charge him with murder, Cape is entirely on his own. A well-meaning, fun-loving pilot, a little dotty, sure, from his head-wound recovery, and weakened by grief for the fresh deaths of his old friends, he is just “out there” on the road, alone yet determined to find and lock up the real murderers. Who, conterminously, are still after him.
So that he and his family escape the fate of Ally and her daughter, Cape decides to be impossible to find while he seeks his attacker or attackers—nuts to the unbelieving cops! He goes off the grid to an old farmhouse near tangled, swampy land on the bank of the Northeast Cape Fear River. The place is owned by Miss Minnie Reynaud, the shaman who raised him as his surrogate mother.
Then before he fully settles in, he gets a wellness visit from Sheriff Scarlett DuBois. The relationship heats up, as does more sudden terror and danger to both. Unlikely heroes and well-disguised villains take the reader to an unexpected ending—and more—down by the riverside. Another plus the reader learns the surprising meaning of the book’s title, JIGSAW. And yet another the reader discovers humor and terror woven together at every degree of the compass.
Stay tuned for JIGSAW PART III

Jigsaw Part II edition by Ted Miller Brogden Linda Whitney Hobson Literature Fiction eBooks

Part 1 spoiler alert – if you have not read Jigsaw (Part I), proceed to your favorite book source and order it now. Then come back and read this. You will thank me later.

The shock ending of Jigsaw (Part I) segues into a surprise beginning to Jigsaw Part II. Cape Thomas’s seemingly mortal bullet to the brain, as it turns out, was not so mortal after all. In Part I, Captain Cape Thomas had struggled to solve a mystery. In so doing, he discovered that he had a whole family he was unaware of, complete with a grown daughter. Then as quickly as this new life is found, it is snatched away in what the reader is led to believe is Cape’s final act of altruism. A bullet intended for Cape’s daughter Jana, is intercepted by Cape as he jumps in front of her.

As this book begins, we discover that Cape is alive and has been in a coma for three years. Cape leaves the hospital with one goal in mind: regaining his job as a 747 captain at Aeromax Airlines. Cape slowly regains his health only to find himself in the middle of a new mystery. This one deadlier than the last, in fact it may threaten his entire family. Cape has a deadly stalker, but despite numerous opportunities, this pursuer passes on the chance to kill Cape. Instead, those close to him appear to be at greater risk. No knowing who to trust, Cape navigates a landscape between faith and doubt in Detective Darius Martin and Sheriff Scarlett Dubois. These challenges force Cape to reevaluate his priorities. Can Cape solve the mystery in time to save those dearest to him? Will he regain his flight status and job? Which kind of life will Cape want to end up living? Will all of this be snatched away from him once more.

This book is liable to cause you to have more than one late night as you chase down these answers. Like in his previous books, Jigsaw (Part I) and The Last Kincaid, Ted Miller Brogden totally rocks the landscape of Eastern North Carolina in Jigsaw Part II.

Jigsaw Part II edition by Ted Miller Brogden Linda Whitney Hobson Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

Ted knocked it out of the ballpark again . I'm a huge fan of Cape Thomas serious . I would encourage you to read Jigsaw first but isn't a nessessity before picking up Jigsaw Part II. Cape's humor and words remind me a lot of my grandfather ,a true southern gentleman . This was my summer read but highly recommend it for any season . Lisa Thompson - RALEIGH N.C.
It was so much fun reading a book that was 1) entertaining 2) had a GREAT story line 3) had characters that I "knew" 4) kept you on the edge of your seat throughout and 5) touched the heart and took me through all of the places that I know.
What a great read, couldn't put it down and finished it in less than 24hrs, with work in between, LOL!
This book was well written and I enjoyed reading Jigsaw Part II. I will definitely look for more books by Ted Miller Brogden.
Another darn fine yarn from the pen of raconteur Ted Miller Brogden. Set in picturesque North Carolina, Captain Cape Thomas, airline pilot, is now united with his family but the adventure continues at a fast pace as a lot of mysteries get solved. Edge-of-the-seat stuff, but I do recommend that you also read the prequel to this, "Jigsaw". I bought both on and have checked both is still available.
Jigsaw II was even better than Jigsaw. If you are looking for a book that you just can't stop reading, this is it. Just when I thought I figured out the who and why, the story had me doubting myself. I started this book Monday night and if work had not gotten in my way Tuesday I would not have had to wait until today (Wednesday) to finish. I would recommend this book for you to read, but if you have not read Jigsaw you really need to read that first. This is a very well written book and you will really enjoy it.
Ok. I finally got time to read this book. Now I will say that I loved it as much or more as the first one, but I will also say I am biased a bit because I live in the areas were the book takes place. Ted does a great job bringing these places to life. If you have never traveled thru these wonderful towns and cities you should plus the storyline will suck you in from the start. Good Job
The 4 star rating is based upon my experience in having read well over a thousand books involving mystery and adventure. Having read Jigsaw and Jigsaw Part I'll combine both as one review. Both books are based in a geographical location of which I am intimately familiar. The plot is well thought out and flows well. Also, my law enforcement background yields insight into fact vs fiction. In conclusion I recommend both these books as entertaining and intriguing reads
